War Cemetery Museum
The Kanchanaburi War Cemetery Museum is yet another touching memorial dedicated to the prisoners of war. They lost their lives in the railway construction. And today, around 7,000 graves give testimony to the war history of Thailand. Also contained within the cemetery are the memorials of cremated prisoners due to a cholera outbreak. A visit to the cemetery further complements the memorial trip of Kanchanaburi. A few yards away, the Thailand Burma Railway Museum is where you will learn about the conditions of imprisoned laborers. There are relics demonstrating the countless other cruelties exercised during the war.
In the museum, curated displays offer insight into several aspects of war that had a significant impact on Thai history. Among the most chilling stories you will hear are about the inhumane conditions in labor camps, transport in boxcars, and the lives of survivors. Watch the video presented by war survivors and Japanese soldiers while you are there. The narrative here heavily depends on the Death Railway and the war The War Cemetery and museum are must-see places for a complete experience.
