Cuba Travel Advice
Make sure you are up-to-date with the pre-departure essentials before your trip to Cuba.
Useful Tips for Cuba Tours
Money Matters
The currency in Cuba is the Cuban Peso Nacional (CUP) and Cuban Convertible Peso (CUC). We recommend that you wait until you go to the city center to change your money. Exchange rates are usually more favorable in the city.
ATMs are available and credit cards are widely accepted, except in some rural areas.
We recommend carrying cash with you at all times for small purchases such as meals and snacks.
The Food Scene
Cuban cuisine brings together the classical ingredients of the Americas. Rice, beans, green bananas, and seasonal fruit and vegetables are found in every iconic Cuban delight. Check out our Cuban Food Guide for the must-try dishes.
Try ropa vieja, the country’s signature dish. Picadillo and Tamales also deliver the colorful spirit of Cuban cuisine.
Get a taste of the exotic varieties of rum, Cuba’s national drink. Cocktails made with the iconic Havana Club will spice up your nights in Cuba.
Drinking tap water is not safe in Cuba.
Solo Travels
Are you traveling alone? You can stay in a single room if your accommodation in Cuba has the single supplement option.
You can also choose to be roomed with a solo traveler of the same gender.
