Morocco Travel Advice
Make sure you are up-to-date with the pre-departure essentials before your trip to Morocco.
Useful Tips for Morocco Tours
Money Matters
The currency in Morocco is the dirham (MAD). We recommend that you wait until you go to the city center to change your money.
ATMs are available in central locations, but access is difficult in rural areas. Cash payment in the local currency is essential for the souks.
The Food Scene
The most iconic Moroccan dishes come with a soft blend of local spices. Try some tagine and kebabs in the sensuous food stalls.
Do not prefer drinking tap water unless it is clearly stated to be safe to drink.
Don’t forget to try Morocco’s national drink, the mint tea.
Solo and Safe Travels
Are you traveling alone? You can stay in a single room if your tour has the single supplement option.
You can also be roomed with a solo traveler of the same gender.
Homosexual acts are illegal in Morocco. Traveling is not a problem for LGBTQ+ couples as long as you use discretion.
Adventure Essentials
Check the adventure activities included in your tour for what to pack.
We recommend bringing a headscarf and trekking shoes for the desert for all Morocco tours.
Sleeping bags are not required in the desert camps, as we provide the bedding for our sedentary camps.
Traveling During Ramadan
Ramadan is the Islamic holy month, during which Muslims fast from dawn until sunset. It is widely celebrated in Morocco.
Ramadan dates change every year. Please check the dates and our advice page.
You can trust your tour leader to arrange your meals during the holy month.
