Time to bid farewell to our lovely felucca as we hop back onboard the coach and drive north towards Kom Ombo. Visit the Kom Ombo Temple, dedicated to the crocodile god Sobek. Explore the dim-light temple after dark and learn from your guide of the temple complexes ancient history, dating back to the 14th century B.C. The tour is huge with 35 or so members. It covers a lot, but the downside: you have to wake up early to catch the bus or train, the earliest being 2:30 am departure. You are always on the go. Hotels are good except Cairo. Sleeper trains are very basic and not comparable to those in Europe. The Cairo station is chaotic with no elevator. The main land portion should spread to 11 days instead of 9 days to allow some rest and free time in each city. Felucca ~ unique but not that romantic experience. Food is very medicore with one main dish only. Technically u can take a shower on the boat if u don’t mind cold water drips. River Nile itself is boring with no scenery. One night is more than enough. Tour guide Mo for the main land portion is much better than the rest. He is knowledgeable and passionate. Dahab hotel is nice and relaxing but the town itself has very little to offer. Probably 3 nights are sufficient. Overall I got good value from what I paid for.

Great tour! Staff were excellent, no complaints at all. Guides made the experience fantastic and informative. The best tour I have been on and would definitely use Travel Talk in future.

Sam’s knowledge of Egypt is incredible! We felt safe and looked after for the entirety of the trip. Maybe a quick intro at the start of the trip, where everyone can say hello and introduce themselves / say where they’re from would have been beneficial for breaking the ice for the group 🙂
