A few minutes away, the elegant Brukenthal Palace is further evidence of the city’s opulence. As you wander in the historic quarter, you will soon notice the eyes perched on the roofs of the houses. They earned Sibiu the nickname “The City with Eyes.”

Arts and entertainment are integral to the fabric of local life. Opera houses, music halls, and theatres are a dime a dozen. No wonder why the city became a European Cultural Capital in 2007. From international festivals to more intimate shows, an artistic event occupies almost every day in Sibiu.
