Cordoba

Arguably the most attractive city in Spain, Cordoba embodies the centuries-old history of the country in its lovely labyrinthine alleys. A much-deserved grandeur earned it a record of four UNESCO sites. They harbor Roman, Islamic, and Christian heritages. Curiously enough, the city is not yet declared an open-air museum. But, every step in the historic district reveals another astounding building or picturesque monument.

Cordoba was once a beacon for astronomers, philosophers, reverends, and scholars in a thriving intellectual period. Today, visitors find its elevated beauty preserved in the amber streets branching out from the heart of the Mezquita. Before it became the principal landmark in the city, the mosque-cathedral was a sanctuary for the entire population. Inside, you will see how sophistication reflects from the colonnaded halls. This grand structure marks any visit to Cordoba. But, much more awaits in the surrounding streets.

Find the perfect spot in the old quarter, and capture an iconic shot of the Cathedral towering over the narrow alley. White and blue houses line it on both sides and add to its charm. A couple of blocks to the west, Alcazar awaits with heavenly gardens and pools. This more airy side of the town mesmerizes visitors at first glance.
