The pulse of social life is strongest around the square. Choose yourself a corner, and observe them as they carry on with their cheerful lives. Slightly out-of-town but never away from attention, Sapa Market is the second busiest spot and the main market. A concentrated dose of the surrounding hill-tribe villages resides here, as farmers make a short journey to sell their goods. For a more formal presentation of everything you see in the market, head to the Sapa Museum. The displays cover the entire history of the region including the French colonial period.
