Anzac Cove is a small cove on the Gallipoli peninsula in Turkey. It became famous as the site of World War I landing of the ANZACs on 25 April 1915.

Chunuk Bair

New Zealand commemorates the New Zealand soldiers who fought and fell during the Battle at Gallipoli. The Kiwi troops captured and held the site named Chunuk Bair.

Welcome to Istanbul! Please be ready outside the front of Ottoman Legacy Hotel at 12:30pm sharp. All aboard the coach as we head to the shores of Gallipoli. Listen up while we are on the bus for your informal meeting with your tour leader to get the lowdown for the next few days. Tonight, we will sleep under the stars at the ceremony space to ensure we have the best position for the Dawn Service.

We wake before the break of dawn and watch as the sun rise over the battlefield, as we remember the soldiers who lost their lives on this exact day all those years ago. We will also attend the national ceremonies and services at Lone Pine and Chunuk Bair later in the day. In the afternoon we travel back to Istanbul. Our trip will end tonight in Istanbul  after we say goodbye to our new mates.

The tour guide/ s and driver were wonderful, great sense of humour, and always happy to help. I did think that we’d end up in a bus of backpackers but this wasn’t the case – great mix of people!
