Welcome to Sofia! At the airport, keep an eye out for the Travel Talk sign for your transfer to the hotel. At the hotel around 7pm, have an informal welcome meeting with your guide and fellow travellers. After you get all the critical information about the tour, head out for our optional group dinner around 8:15pm and walk the streets of Sofia.

Just back from another amazing trip with Traveltalk. Thanks to our guide Dragan who certainly knew his information and to Sasa who drove the bus so safely around the mountains. There is a lot of driving involved in this tour which allows you to see all the stunning scenery along the way but you might need to consider this if sitting is not for you. Obviously 7 countries in 9 days is a whistle stop tour but the walking tours with local guides give you a real flavour of each place you stop. My best advice, write a diary as you go, by day three you will struggle to remember where you have already been, or maybe that’s just my age!!!
Looking forward to travelling Traveltalk again soon.

Bojan is a national treasure! He is so funny, informative, and helpful and made our trip through the Balkans unforgettable. I know that many Americans (possibly folks of other nationalities, but I am speaking as an American myself) have been hesitant to travel throughout Eastern Europe recently due to the war in Ukraine, but I can promise you that this conflict did not effect our time in the Balkans at all. At no point did I ever feel unsafe or worried. You cannot even tell that there is a war going on (because it is multiple countries away from the countries you will be visiting). All this to say – please don’t let this keep you from signing up a Travel Talk Tours Balkans trip. It was truly an adventure of a lifetime and I am sad every day that it is over.

This was a superb experience. We were the first tour group of the year. Overall, it represents extremely good value for money. The standard of hotels was excellent- they’re all in the 4 star category. The tour itself visits some fascinating places in the Balkans. Bojan was an excellent and affable tour guide. Extremely knowledgeable as well. As an independent traveller, this area is not straightforward to get around by public transport. Therefore, this method of seeing the highlights is really useful. But note that it is a fast paced, whistle stop tour of the area. There is a lot of driving involved, but not to the extent that it jeopardises enjoyment of the trip. It will leave you wanting more from certain places, but that’s part of the attraction I guess.
My only tips for improvement are: consider starting the tour in Belgrade, not Sofia; a full day in Sarajevo would be preferable; finally- not all the hotels are centrally located e.g. Ohrid and Sarajevo, which means more limited evening dining options.

Bojan was great and all of the stories and banter he brought up was a highlight of the trip.

We have been on many tours and Bojan has been one of the best tour leader. He was informative, fun and cared for the group. All the walking tours were great and I loved getting them in each place.
